Apple Hand Pies

Ingredients: For the Pie Filling: – 2 cups apples, peeled and diced (use a variety like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) – 1/4 cup granulated sugar – 1/4 cup brown sugar

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon – 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg – 1 tablespoon lemon juice – 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the Pie Crust: – 2 pre-made refrigerated pie crusts or homemade pie crusts – 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash) – Granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). 2. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss until the apples are evenly coated. Set aside.

Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface. Using a round cutter or a glass, cut out circles from the pie crusts. The size of the circles will depend on your preference, but around 4 to 5 inches in diameter works well.

Place a spoonful of the apple filling in the center of half of the pie crust circles, leaving a border around the edges.

Brush the tops of the hand pies with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked. Sprinkle a little granulated sugar on top for added sweetness and texture.
