Mocha Cake Recipe

Cake: – 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour – 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder – 1 and 3/4 cups granulated sugar – 2 tsp baking powder – 1 tsp baking soda – 1 tsp salt

– 2 large eggs – 1 cup buttermilk – 1/2 cup vegetable oil – 2 tsp vanilla extract – 1 cup hot brewed coffee

Frosting: – 1 cup unsalted butter, softened – 3 cups powdered sugar – 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder – 2-3 tbsp strong brewed coffee, cooled – 1 tsp vanilla extract – Pinch of salt

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix dry ingredients. Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until combined. Gradually add hot coffee and mix until smooth.

Divide batter between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

For frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Mix in coffee, vanilla, and salt until light and fluffy.

 Frost top of one cake layer, place second layer on top, and frost top and sides of cake. Decorate as desired and enjoy your delicious Mocha Cake!
