Ingredients: – 2 cups all-purpose flour – 1 tablespoon baking powder – 1 teaspoon sugar – 1/2 teaspoon salt – 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces – 3/4 cup milk
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.
Add the cold butter pieces to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. You can also use a food processor for this step.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk. Use a fork or a wooden spoon to gently stir the mixture until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it a few times until it comes together, then pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick.
Use a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass to cut out biscuits from the dough. Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
Gather any remaining dough scraps and gently pat them together to cut out more biscuits. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving.
